Man Portable Cannon (MPC)

Postby enigma badger » Sat Apr 14, 2012 7:18 am

Will's answer to the need for heavier scifi weaponry: the Man Portable Cannon (MPC)!

Image

Image

Will designed the barrel piece and ammo box elements of the MPC to be compatible with the body piece of the BrickArms Minigun:

Image

For added posing and building options, Will has also designed ring grip and bar grip pieces:

Image

Image

The grip bar is the standard grippable width as is the bar on the ring grip. The ring grip is also designed to fit onto a standard stud which allows it to be added onto the minifig neck, allowing for some neat posing and building options!

I don't know what to say..... But 1 thing it would be very cool if you added a tactical grip instead of the just plain one if you know what I'm saying.

I'll be honest and say I have no idea what you're saying. My best guess: a chainsaw-style grip like the Terminator 2 minigun?

If so, that's an item that has been suggested here, and if it's something you'd like to see, you can and should post in that thread.

From here on out, I'd ask members to focus on the MPC as it currently exists in this thread.

No, I Recommend the grips to have like notches on it so they look tactical like kinda like the kukri.

Ah, now that makes sense. You'd like to see added detailing on the grip bar, particularly a wrapping effect like the grip of the Tactical Kukri. Issue with that is any detailing would mean a loss of grip surface such that the bar wouldn't fit as securely.

My thoughts exactly. With the Kukri, it didn't really matter because it was a grip, but here, when it attaches to something else, and it is so close to the barrel, I think it might be too wide, and it would add a completely new layer.

The beauty here is that you could have the as different soldier types. Use the minigun as heavy anti-infantry, and the MPC as anti-armor. I tend to have my heavy weapons as part of a fire team, basically three guys, one with a, say, minigun or a heavy sniper rifle, and the other two with standard rifles, where one is a spotter, and the other is support. Makes my close in fighting vigs more fun. But I love having another heavy weapon in this style; this one looks amazing.

The ring grip would allow both the MPC AND the Minigun to be easily attachable to some sort of mount. This is a good idea......I wish it had came out earlier......would have save a lot of pain figuring out a way to mount things.

Whoa... My first instinct is to say, "How long?" but I know I shouldn't. Exactly what I've wanted for about a year now. Is the ammo box a redesign of thew original Sci-fi ammo box?

Well, kind of, since the ammo box proto featured the tab, but this one is a clip! As far as the design goes, I am pretty sure it is the same!

No, there several other differences between the Scifi Ammo Box and the ammo box Will designed with the MPC. Aside from the mentioned chance from a clip vs tab attachment system, the MPC ammo box is thicker, larger, and features some details not found of the Scifi Ammo Box.

I'll see what I can do about posting a shot comparing the two at some point!

This is brilliant, my only complaint is that the barrel is squarish, and with the body of the minigun being round it looks off a little. But I can understand and it is nice that the parts work together so nicely.

Hmmm.... I just noticed, if you chop part of the M1919 barrel and put the MPC's barrel on, it would make a good HMG.

It just looks so incredibly dangerous. This would be a nice center piece in one of my heavy infantry anti-armor squads.

However, and I just noticed this after typing that first line, it feels like the ammo box that's attached to the gun is too small. Considering the caliber of the weapon, it doesn't seem like that particular ammo box would hold enough rounds.
